Eyebrow Microblading (also known as feathering) is a semi permanent form of tattoo.
The procedure is performed with a microblade, which implants coloured pigment into the dermis layer of the skin. This creates the appearance of “hair strokes” and creates a natural hairlike finish.
Microblading can last anywhere from 6-24 months, this can vary due to individuals skin types (oily, dry or good condition), exposure to sun and individual lifestyle.
It is advised that you come in within 6-8 weeks after your initial eyebrow Microblading session to complete your second session as it is a 2 step process.
All new clients receive a complimentary touch up session valid for up to 8 weeks from your initial appointment.
At Chic Cosmetic Tattooing, we use a numbing agent prior & during the procedure to ensure you are comfortable. Pain thresholds can vary from each individual.
Yes, all cosmetic tattooing procedures require a face to face consultation, prior to completing the procedure. This is to ensure you are fit to go ahead with the procedure.
Healing can take up to 7-14 days. Some swelling & redness is normal, this will subside within 1-2 days. Your brows may look dark for the first couple of days but they will settle and start to form as a scab, then it will peel. After care instructions should be followed to ensure that eyebrows have healed accordingly.
Any cosmetic tattooing procedure is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Immediately after your cosmetic tattooing procedure the area treated will look darker than the final results. This is temporary; the colour will lighten and soften over 7 days.
It is normal for the treated area to feel slightly tender, some swelling may occur.
If you have any of the following, you may not be a candidate for a cosmetic tattoo. Please contact us via email to discuss any questions or concerns
Lip Blush is form of permanent makeup used to create definition, enhance shape, boost color and even out the tone of the lips. It can create the illusion of fuller lips by implanting color in areas that may be less pigmented naturally or have lost color as a result of fillers and/or aging. A digital machine is used to deposit tiny dots of color all over your lips and the end result is a very natural, beautiful tint with no visible outline. Lip Blush can last for approximately 2-4 years ...or longer with recommended refresh sessions every 18-24 months.
Color appears bright initially and softens by about 30-50% for very natural results - think tinted lip balm rather than a solid lipstick look!
Lip blush is best suited to clients who fall into FITZPATRICK SCALE 1 - 3.
Fitz 4 - 6 clients should note that dark lip color correction may require 2 or more sessions and will need to be discussed beforehand. If you think you may need color correction, please email a clear, well-lit photo of your lips for review before booking.
Dark lips run the of risk of irreversible hyperpigmentation.
Please email me for more information or if you have questions.
Here is what to expect at your lip blush appointment:
First we will discuss your goals and assess your current lip colour and shape, as well as choose a colour. If you have lipsticks you like, please bring them so I can mix a colour to match.
Next, I will spend about 30 minutes doing a pre-draw of your lip shape. Once you approve the design, I will numb your lips for 25 minutes. After that, I will begin the tattooing, which takes about 2 hours on average.
The appointment is long, so wear comfy clothes, bring headphones if you want to listen to a podcast, and always feel free to let me know if you want to take a stretch break.
Lip Blush and all cosmetic tattoo procedures are a TWO STEP process, which is why your first touch up is included! The second session is needed to address any areas that may have healed lighter or retained less pigment and make any colour adjustments desired.
Choosing your colour is the most fun part of your appointment! Together we will select the best option based on your end goal, current lip tone and your skin's undertone. Colour options range from very natural to bold and bright, and pigments can be mixed to create a personalised shade for you. Some pigments heal more transparent and others are more bold. Since everyone has a different natural lip tone, everyone's results are one of a kind and unique.
I personally recommend choosing a colour that is within a few shades of your natural colour to start. This will give the most natural looking results while still giving your lips a more bright and youthful appearance.
All pigments are vegan and cruelty-free.
Any hyperpigmentation will also be taken into consideration and may need colour correction depending on the severity (in this case, we can only use orange).
Lip Blush takes about three hours on average. During your appointment I will consult with you the entire time ensuring we are on the same page. I will draw on a shape for you and upon approval, you will spend about 25 minutes numbing. Tattooing takes about an hour and a half to two hours. The touch-up appointment will take about an hour and a half.
Yes, Lip blush and filler pair wonderfully together and lots of clients have both! Just make sure to get your tattoo 4 weeks before or after your filler appointment.
In order to ensure that permanent makeup heals perfectly, two treatments are needed 6-8 weeks apart. This first touch-up is included in the initial cost as it gives the opportunity to correct any areas that may not have taken pigment as well and allows the client to make suggestions if they want slight adjustments with the shape or colour.
Some clients have great retention and do not need the touch up- it all depends on how you heal, how much you bleed during the treatment and how well aftercare is followed. If your lips do not heal perfectly the first time, don't worry! We can always go bolder and/or add more density at your touch up.
Lip Blush lasts 2-4 years or longer with touch ups recommended every 18-24 months. Individual results will vary and depend on age, lifestyle, skin type, sun exposure, beauty routine and products and more.
Before the procedure begins, a topical anaesthetic is applied to the area to minimise discomfort, followed by a liquid anaesthetic during the procedure. Some clients may feel slight discomfort, but it’s relatively low pain for most. Most rate the pain as a 2-3 out of 10.
(Please note that if you are a frequent smoker, or have your appointment during your menstrual cycle, the pain level could be intensified.)
You must avoid working out for a few days following your cosmetic tattoo appointment. The blood vessels need time to heal afterwards, so it's a great excuse to take a few days of relaxation! Any heavy sweating/cardio should be avoided for about 5 days minimum, but feel free to do yoga (not hot yoga), light weight training, etc. after day 3.
To ensure the highest quality of safety, all tools besides the tattoo machine are one time use only. All needles are individually packaged/sterilised. Non-disposable equipment is always protected with a barrier and cleaned after each appointment. All products used during the procedure are disposed of after each appointment, giving each client peace of mind. I use high quality cruelty free and vegan pigments.
Factors to consider associated with skin type include:
Darker skin tones contain more melanin than lighter toned lips, so there is a HIGH risk of irreversible and permanent hyperpigmentation. Often multiple neutralisation sessions will be needed before adding any pink or red colour. Dark pigmentation is neutralised with only orange pigment for the first 1-2 sessions. Please email me before booking to see if I am able to take your case!
If you have have spent a lot of time in the sun or in tanning beds during your life, you may have sun damage on your lips. In this case, you should expect to need more sessions as pigment tends to be harder to implant and often will heal patchy. You will also be more sensitive to the pain. I will only use light and natural colours for those with sun damage, bright colours will highlight areas that are resistant to pigment and will not fade nicely. Email me a photo if you think you may have sun damage to discuss.
Some health conditions are contraindications for permanent makeup. If you have any of the following, you may not be a candidate for a tattoo. Please email me if you have any questions or need clarification.
Please make sure you are healthy enough to be tattooed before booking an appointment! If you have any concerns about whether or not you are a good candidate for permanent makeup please email for a free consultation.
Yes - colour retention and overall results are different for each individual.
Factors such as sun exposure, skin type, skin tone, FOLLOWING AFTERCARE, lifestyle and immune system determine how your permanent makeup will heal.
